Finding God in the Quiet Moments

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

In today’s busy world, quiet moments can feel rare—almost like a luxury we don’t have time for. Between work deadlines, business growth, family commitments, and never-ending to-do lists, silence can feel unproductive. But what if those quiet moments are exactly where God is waiting for us?

Intentional living isn’t just about managing your time more efficiently—it’s about aligning your life with what truly matters. And sometimes, the most powerful, soul-filling moments come not when we’re hustling, but when we’re still. When we pause. When we breathe.

The Gift of Stillness

We often associate productivity with action. But Scripture reminds us that stillness is where we find strength and clarity.

When Elijah fled into the wilderness and cried out to God, he didn’t find Him in the wind, earthquake, or fire—but in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11–12). That whisper is still speaking to us today. But we have to be quiet enough to hear it.

The quiet moments—early mornings before the world wakes up, the stillness during a walk, the silence between tasks—can become sacred spaces if we choose to be present in them.

Why Quiet Moments Matter in Intentional Living

When you live intentionally, you begin to prioritize your presence over your pace. You notice that:

  • God often speaks in whispers, not shouts.
  • Peace comes when you pause.
  • Your soul heals when you’re not distracted.

Quiet moments reconnect us with our faith, values, and vision. They remind us that we’re not just building businesses or chasing goals—we’re partnering with God in every step.

These moments anchor us, keeping us grounded in truth instead of swept away by hurry or comparison.

How to Create Quiet Moments in Your Day

You don’t have to wait for a perfect retreat or a free weekend. You can intentionally create quiet, soul-refueling pauses right where you are. Here are a few simple ways:

1, Start Your Day with Silence

Before reaching for your phone or checking your inbox, take 5–10 minutes to sit with God. Read a verse. Pray. Breathe deeply. Let your heart settle before the rush begins.

2. Schedule “Sacred Pauses”

Block time in your calendar for quiet, non-negotiable rest. Even 15 minutes can make a difference. Take a walk. Sit on your porch. Light a candle and journal. Be still and open.

3. Turn Commutes into Prayer Time

If you drive often, turn off the music or podcasts occasionally and talk to God. Let that time become a holy moment of conversation and listening.

4. Take regular breaks from your phone and social media. You don’t have to be available to everyone all the time. God deserves your first attention.

5. Reflect Before You SleepDisconnect to Reconnect

End your day by asking: “Where did I see God today?” Let that reflection bring gratitude and perspective.

Reflection Questions

When was the last time I felt truly at peace in God’s presence?

What distractions tend to keep me from stillness?

How can I create a quiet space in my daily rhythm?

Final Thoughts

In a world that glorifies hustle, be someone who chooses stillness. In a culture that celebrates doing, be someone who chooses being—with God, in His presence, in the quiet.

Because it’s in those sacred, quiet moments that we stop striving and start receiving. That’s where God meets us. That’s where we find clarity. That’s where true time freedom begins—not in doing more, but in hearing His voice more clearly.

Take a breath.
Make space.
And find God waiting for you in the stillness.
