  1. Self-care is more important then most people realize. I love that you gave ways to get the care you need for each of the 4 areas. I read once a long time ago, if you spend at least 10 minutes a day alone in complete silence, you will feel so much better. I don’t do it everyday but I try whenever I think about it to make the time. Great post, love it!

    1. Thank you, Rosie. I really like the 10 minutes idea. I’m going to start that practice today!

  2. This is a wonderful and practical blog post. I like how you laid out the pertinent aspects of a plan for a suitable self-care plan. In particular, I like the spiritual self-care section. As a practicing Roman Catholic, I have a game plan for achieving holiness and intimacy with God. For me this is the most important part of my own self-care plan because it helps me turn to God for strength, joy and peace. In a time when we formulate resolutions to improve in various ways through diet, exercise, and better habits of work and study and family life, we would do well to get our spiritual life in line.

    1. That is so very true. If we turn to God first, we will have the wisdom to deal with all areas of our lives. I appreciate your wisdom. Thank you!

  3. As a mom, self-care has always been a struggle. I found myself taking care of everyone but myself. Logically, it seems crazy not to take care of yourself but many of us are guilty of it. I am making an effort to practice self-care. Thanks for breaking it down into the four areas, I really like that! Very thoughtful and interesting article, well done.

    1. Thank you, Loretta. As a mom, it is difficult to take the time to care for ourselves. It’s so much easier to put other’s needs before our own. But, in the long run, if we don’t practice self-care, we won’t be able to take care of all of those people we love when we forfeit our own health.

  4. I have always been a firm believer that you can’t take care of anything or anyone if you don’t take care of your mental health first. I suffer from anxiety and depression and when I am not taking care of myself, I am useless to those around me,. Self care has been an essential process in my life. Sometimes people thing I am being frivolous, by taking an hour doing my nightly skincare ritual, but I KNOW that it centers me. So, screw them right 🙂 I always appreciate when other people see the value in taking the time to take care of yourself first! Thanks for the post!

    1. I agree with you completely, Cat. I am glad you see the value in self-care and that you take the time to take care of yourself! It sounds like you know what you need to do to keep yourself healthy and I’m glad you haven’t given in to the naysayers 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read the post!
